Today we are riding the rails into the big apple. Before we boarded the train, the air was aglow with nervous energy. The grown ups were apprehensive and the kids were just plain excited!
As we stood waiting on an empty loading platform, the minutes ticking by, we contemplated how to navigate New York’s Mass Transit System. We are traveling from Clinton, CT to New Haven, CT. In New Haven, we transfer trains at the New Haven, Union Station and ride for two hours into New York’s Grand Central Station. From their we will take a subway to Battery Park. Then, we will possibly take a ferry to the Statue of Liberty.
Are you dizzy yet? I am. Sitting on the train to Grand Central, I am chewing gum a million miles a minute. I don’t know why I am nervous, because this is actually pretty easy. Every stop is clearly announced and when we boarded this train they even announced this trains final destination (for those silly enough to board the wrong train).
Today I am a tourist!
